Focus and Scope

The online journal Revista de Filosofía (La Plata) (ISSN 2953-3392), a continuation of the *Revista de Filosofía y Teoría Política* (ISSN 2314-2553), is a Spanish-language electronic publication dedicated to philosophical reflection in all its thematic and conceptual perspectives. Its issues feature original and previously unpublished articles, book reviews, news, and relevant contributions to philosophical research at the local, national, and international levels.

The Journal of Philosophy (La Plata) was created within the context of the Institute of Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanities at the National University of La Plata, and its first issue dates back to 1950 (ISSN 0034-8228). In 1985, it began to be called the Journal of Philosophy and Political Theory in print format (print ISSN 0328-6223), transitioning to digital format in 2013 (e-ISSN 2314-2553).

Starting with the 2022 issue, the journal begins a new era and resumes its original name from the print version, Journal of Philosophy (print ISSN 0034-8228), in this new digital version.

It is currently published by the Center for Research in Philosophy belonging to the Institute of Research in Humanities and Social Sciences -IdIHCS- (UNLP-CONICET), the Department of Philosophy and the Doctoral Program in Philosophy, all institutions belonging to the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of the National University of La Plata.

Frequency

The Journal of Philosophy (La Plata) is a semi-annual publication, with one volume per year comprising two issues published in June and December.

Peer Review Process

The Journal of Philosophy (La Plata) accepts original and unpublished works in Spanish. Submission of a work implies the author's obligation not to submit it simultaneously to another publication. All submissions will undergo academic evaluation by external peers (double-blind peer review). The editorial staff reserves the right to accept or reject submissions, in accordance with the thematic scope, strict adherence to editorial guidelines, and respect for the ethics and anti-plagiarism policy. The opinions expressed by the authors are their own responsibility. The call for submissions to the various sections is currently open, and calls for materials on specific topics are issued periodically. All submitted manuscripts are received by the Editorial Secretariat, which acknowledges receipt to the authors. Submissions are preliminarily evaluated by the editors to determine if the topics align with the journal's stated scope. Submissions that do not meet this requirement will be rejected. When the initial evaluation is positive, two external expert referees in the field are selected to assess the quality of the work. The evaluation system adopted by the Journal of Philosophy is double-blind (the anonymity of both authors and evaluators is maintained).

Formal specifications for submissions can be found in the About - Submissions section. The digital file should be named with the authors' last names (or the corresponding author's name followed by "et al." in the case of multiple authors) followed by the section to which the article is submitted. (Example: Giménez. Book Review.)

There are no fees for submission, publication, or access. Once published, the article will be available for free reading or download.

Ethical Considerations and Conflicts of Interest

The publication of the Journal of Philosophy (La Plata) is the collective result of the work and effort of authors, editors, and reviewers who are interested in the development of science for social and cultural development. For this reason, and within the framework of the open access policy promoted by the National University of La Plata, the journal will not charge authors any publication fees, and articles will be immediately available in open access.

The journal's editors are committed to avoiding any conflict of interest among those involved in its production. All submitted texts will be evaluated based on their intellectual content, ensuring that the authors' ethnic or national background, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or political philosophy do not interfere with the evaluation process. Similarly, external reviews that introduce any personal bias into the quality of the work will be rejected.

Authors and reviewers are asked to disclose any relevant conflicts of interest they may have in advance so that these can be considered when assigning reviews. If a conflict arises after publication of the contribution, a retraction or disclosure of the fact will be required, if necessary.

A “conflict of interest” is defined as a situation in which there is a divergence between an individual’s personal interests and their responsibilities regarding the scientific activities they carry out, whether as an author, reviewer, or member of the editorial committee, which could influence their critical judgment and the integrity of their actions.

Conflicts of interest may include:

Anti-Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Philosophy uses anti-plagiarism tools. Authors are expected to respect the best practices and ethical codes of scientific publications, that is, to avoid double submission, ghost and honorary authorship, plagiarism, data manipulation, conflicts of interest, and to comply with research ethics policies.

The Journal of Philosophy (La Plata) publishes original, unpublished works written by authors who declare their authorship. The journal considers the following practices to be plagiarism:

Direct plagiarism (failure to acknowledge authorship, minimal changes made to another's text, failure to indicate borrowed material with quotation marks).
Plagiarism through the improper use of paraphrasing.
Plagiarism through the inappropriate use of quotation marks or failure to clearly identify paraphrased passages as such.

"Self-plagiarism" or "recycling fraud" occurs when a work's appearance is altered and it is presented as if it were something else entirely, or when the fact that the work is being recycled is omitted.

The Journal of Philosophy implements procedures to prevent plagiarism—including translations, fragmentation of results or "salami slicing," duplication, and other practices.

Authors are required to declare that the article has not been previously published or submitted to other journals for evaluation and that the text is original. Reviewers are asked to pay attention to potential indicators of plagiarism, as they are familiar with the sources and literature on the subject.
The Journal of Philosophy uses the iThenticate: Plagiarism Detection Software tool provided by the National University of La Plata through Crossref.

If plagiarism and a false declaration are detected, the authors will be notified and given 10 days to provide an explanation or withdraw their submission. In the event of plagiarism being found, FAHCE Journals will remove the text, indicating in the bibliographic record (if one exists) "Excluded for plagiarism".

International Guidelines

The journal editors will consider internationally agreed-upon guidelines and best practices for addressing the specific challenges of scientific publishing. The guidelines provided by COPE | Committee on Publication Ethics will be given primary consideration. Guidelines from other internationally recognized organizations will also be taken into account. Authors, researchers, and reviewers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with international guidelines on publication ethics to avoid potential violations arising from a lack of awareness.

Copyright Policy

Acceptance of contributions by the journal implies the non-exclusive transfer of the authors' economic rights to the publisher, who permits reuse after publication under a Creative Commons (CC) Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

The material may be shared (copied and redistributed in any medium or format) and adapted (remixed, transformed, and used to create derivative works), provided that: a) the authorship and original source of publication (journal, publisher, and URL of the work) are cited; b) it is not used for commercial purposes; and c) the same license terms are maintained.

The transfer of non-exclusive rights also implies the authorization by the authors for the work to be deposited in the institutional repositories of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences (Academic Memory) and of the National University of La Plata (SEDICI) and disseminated through the databases that the editor considers appropriate for its indexing, with a view to increasing the visibility of the publication and its authors.
