Interview with Walter D. Mignolo (second part): The Decolonial Option introducing the geography of knowledge, sensing and desire

Abstract
In the second part of the interview, Walter Mignolo refers to his harmony with Rodolfo Kusch’s reflective path. He points out that the concepts of aesthetics and episteme have displaced and left aside far broader notions such as aesthesis and gnosis. Beyond this point, the approach would always be to analyse how what exists came to be, what it has removed, and what is worth restoring. The idea of in-corporation as a form of experiential and formative rootedness, and its significance for the decolonial perspective is also highlighted. Concerning the geopolitics of knowledge, Mignolo establishes the ideas of re-westernization and de-westernization as the two disputing forces from the point of view of the nation-states, considering the decolonial as a public sphere but not a state sphere (at least not with the same meaning states carry today since their constitution is intertwined with the colonial matrix of power). Finally, he raises some questions about the impact of the so-called Artificial Intelligence on the matrix of power, as well as the potential for the AI to contribute to the decolonial perspective.
